Boat Tailors has been long recognized as one of the leaders in the marine canvas and upholstery industry. Boat Tailors was founded in 1987. Since then we have grown and lost one dear friend, Richie, who we will always miss.

Boat Tailors was awarded 72 International Achievement Awards. These products were judged to have superior design, materials and craftsmanship.  We received these awards in virtually all categories of power and sail, both interior and exterior products.

One of the primary reasons for our success is the ability of Boat Tailors to custom design canvas products for a wide variety of boats. The next step, if needed, is to design the frame structure to support the top and enclosure. This is where we really shine. Our frames are designed and fabricated in-house. Proper frame design and fabrication is so important when blending canvas products with arches, hardtops, and bridges. The frame structure produces the final shape of the canvas product. If you already have a frame, we, in most instances, will use it.

Next is the selection of materials. Boat Tailors uses state of the art materials in the marine canvas industry.

We provide dockside service for design and installation of our product. To best meet our customers needs we use mobile design and fabrication trucks.  This allows on-site frame modification and sewing of our products, tube cutting and bending, selection of fabric and accessories and sewing. It is a small shop on wheels so we can make on-site adjustments.

Boat Tailors is also a specialist in 1.25" diameter stainless frames for larger boats over 40'. Our experience takes us from 14' fishing boats to 85' yachts (Intrinsic), with everything in between. We are exclusive installer for Skipper Buds in Winthrop Harbor, Carver Marquis 65' factory installer in Pulaski, WI,  and install at all marinas and storage facilities between Chicago and Manitowoc. New Moon (90') and New Moon II (110') also have extensive Boat Tailors canvas work.

Boat Tailors also makes heavy duty industrial and construction machinery covers for many diverse machines and applications. Because of our custom patterning abilities, we can create a cover to fit darn near anything. We also sew awnings for all the local camper and RV dealers.

The addition of our second fully-equipped truck allows the best in customer service.

Our shop is a located west of Racine on the I-94.  We have 5000 square feet of space to run our state of the art operation. This facility is centrally located for our service area from Chicago to Manitowoc.
