Manufacturers, dealers and boaters alike, trust Boat Tailors to create products for them that will have superior function and aesthetics. It is not uncommon for a dealer or boater to take the manufacturer supplied new canvas product and replace it with a Boat Tailors product.
The process begins with meeting the customer and his or her needs for the product. We then recommend a design to the customer. Once a design is agreed upon the frames are bent in the shop. These frames are then fixed in place as if they had fabric on them. We then pattern each of the panels that make up the entire job. This takes anywhere from 3 to 8 hours depending on the job.
By the way, if the boat has existing canvas, we put the old canvas back up to protect the boat while the project is being sewn. These patterns are taken to the shop to be sewn into the panels. Once the panels are sewn they are then taken back to the boat and installed. Installation can take from 1 to 5 hours. Here are a few projects.
64 JEFFERSON PILOTHOUSE MOTOR YACHT
These pictures are of a new 64 Jefferson. The customer requested that we modify the factory supplied 1 ¼” stainless steel frames and design a new enclosure. Here are the before and after pictures. Altogether we designed and manufactured enclosures in front of the arch, behind the arch and the aft deck. We also provided a bimini for the aft cockpit. The forward panels of the enclosure are Rainier bonded panels. The remainder of the panels are Strataglass. The white fabric for the tops and borders is Stamoid.
50 CRUISERS
This is a new 50 Cruisers. The dealer asked us to create connecting panels (windows) from the hardtop to the top of the windshield and a camper enclosure for the aft. We selected Rainier bonded semi rigid panels for the front for superior visibility. For the camper we used one of our award winning frame designs to blend with the very contoured hard top. We used 1 ¼” Stainless steel frames, Stamoid fabric, and screen and vinyl combination panels.
54 JENNEAU
This is a new 54 Jenneau that came from France with a bimini and dodger. The dealer and customer had us design and manufacture a new dodger, bimini and enclosure. This was also 1 ¼” Stainless steel frames. The dodger includes our Super Clear semi-rigid front panels, Strataglass, Sea Mark fabric, Sunbrella and screen/vinyl window panels.
59 FAIRLANE SQUADRON
This is a 59 Fairline Squadron. When the boat was being constructed in England the new owner forwarded the profile engineering drawings to us. We designed the project on paper and the customer was overjoyed once he saw it. When the boat arrived stateside we were able to start right away. Once the boat arrived we worked with the new owner to enclose the aft cockpit with a cantilevered frame and make it blend with the boat. We were able to blend the top and the bridge so as to make it look as one. The frame is 1 ¼” stainless steel. The fabric is Stamoid.
